Used Cars
Pinetown

The questions people ask

Short answers, including the ones about money that most car sites leave vague.

The basics

What is UsedCarsPinetown?
One place for the used cars sitting on real dealership floors around Pinetown and the rest of greater Durban. The stock comes straight from each dealership's own system, so the prices, photographs and specification are the dealer's own, not ours.
Do you own or sell the cars?
No. Every car belongs to a dealership and that dealership is named on the car. We never sit in the middle of the deal. When you enquire or apply it goes to their desk and you deal with them directly, at their price.
Where does the stock come from?
From the stock systems the dealerships already use to run their own websites. When a dealer loads a car it appears here; when it sells it disappears. Nobody retypes anything, which is exactly why the details stay right.
Are all the cars in Pinetown?
No, and the site says so on the car. Most of the floor is Pinetown and the rest of the 031. Anything outside that carries its town on the card, and you can filter the whole site down to local stock only.

Money

Is the monthly figure a quote?
No. It is an estimate worked out over 72 months with a 10% deposit at an indicative linked rate, including the monthly service fee. It is there so you can plan. Only the dealer submitting your application to the banks can tell you what you actually qualify for.
Does the affordability check affect my credit record?
No. Nothing on this site runs a credit check and nothing is recorded against your name. The first moment anything touches your record is when the dealer submits your application to a bank, and that only happens after you have sent it.
What happens to my finance application?
It reaches the selling dealer's desk as a completed PDF, and you get a copy of exactly what they received. They take it to the banks from there.
Do you add anything to the price?
No. The price on the car is the dealer’s asking price as it stands in their system. We take nothing from the buyer.

Selling and the trade

What does it cost to sell my car here?
Nothing. No listing fee, no commission and no cut of the price. List it once and the dealers bid against each other. You take the offer you want, or none of them.
What is the trade index?
Pinetown has been the workshop end of Durban for decades. 8 lanes beyond the cars, from panel and spray to roadworthy and towing, indexed so the car and everything after it sit in one place.
Can I pay to be listed higher?
No, and nobody else can either. Every business in the index is phoned and visited before it appears, and nothing is sorted by who spent the most.

Something we have not answered?

If it is about a specific car, ask the dealer on that car's page. It reaches the person who can actually answer, which is quicker than asking us.
